Dude, where have I been? John Mayer has been talking smack about an ex, looking for a wife and poppin’ Xanax. Well, that is if you let the gossip rags tell it.
I find it sincerely annoying that the guy writes a post in his blog that he LABELED as being fodder for lyrics — there are no hidden messages — and everybody’s freaking out saying he MUST be specifically talking about someone he’s dated.
I loved John’s follow-up post in which he explains his reasoning in detail. I got it, did you get it? If John is reading this and I have no idea if he has any idea this site exists, but if you’re reading this John, thank you for this sentence you wrote: “Can I write a song because of somebody but not about them?”
I think it would be really sad if you couldn’t. It seems like everybody has to figure everything out, there has to be some concrete reason for everything. Well there doesn’t and I really, really wish the tabs and the celebstalkers would chill the F out for a second and stop analyzing everything to death. They’re like pre-teen girls that just got back from the movies where they saw their crush and he happened to glance in their direction, not because he saw them but because he’s looking at the movie poster behind their head, and they’re wondering what it all meant.
Mm. ok. I’m done.

I totally agree with you, people try to dig to deep into little things and try to take them to a level beyond reach.
I read his blog the day he posted the lyrics and didn’t think anything of it, because that’s what they are; lyrics. I mean if it’s that serious the tabs mights as well read into all his lyrics and go insane trying to figure shit out about them. LMAO
I didn’t fully understand his post explaining his prior post, but love the line you mentioned and that he quoted Jay-Z’s Moment of Clarity.
